Professional Summary

Miranda joined ECCB in 2020 as a PhD student in the Ecological Systems Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. William E. Grant and Dr. Hsiao-Hsuan ‘Rose’ Wang. She was awarded the Merit Fellowship in 2020 and has been a Welder Wildlife Foundation Fellow since 2022. Her dissertation focuses on spatially explicit simulation modeling of woody plant encroachment in grasslands. Her work explores the importance of fire and herbivory as contagious disturbances and pyric herbivory as an important framework for understanding woody plant encroachment. In her free time, Miranda enjoys swimming, reading, afternoon tea, and crafts.
