Professional Summary
Joshuah Perkin, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Texas A&M Department of Ecology and Conservation Biology. Perkin joined the former Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences Department at Texas A&M University as an Assistant Professor in 2017. Dr. Perkin teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in ecology and conservation biology. He teaches Principles of Fisheries Management at the undergraduate level and Ecological Applications in R at the graduate level. Dr. Perkin’s research focuses on ecology and conservation of freshwater fishes with a specialization in threatened or endangered species. He has received over $1.5 million in external research funding from state and federal agencies. Dr. Perkin is associate editor for a peer-reviewed journal and serves on multiple committees associated with the American Fisheries Society. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, 8 book chapters, and coauthored more than 150 scientific presentations. Dr. Perkin has chaired four doctoral committees, seven master’s committees, and served on 30 other graduate student committees. Dr. Perkin has received awards for outstanding student organization advising and educational outreach in fisheries.
