Urs Kreuter

Urs Kreuter, Ph.D. is the Joan Negley Kelleher Professor in the Department of Ecology and Conservation Biology at Texas A&M University. His research and teaching interests focus on the human dimensions of natural resources management. This works aims to inform policy that fosters positive incentives for land users to restore the resilience of rangeland ecosystems under diverse land tenure systems. His research has focused on several issues including the use of prescribed fire to restore rangeland resilience and mitigate wildfire under changing climatic conditions; the use of grazing management practices to enhance soil health and the delivery of ecosystem services from rangelands; and the evaluation of land cover and land use change impacts on the delivery of ecosystem services by affected rangelands. Kreuter teaches an undergraduate capstone course in Ecosystem Management, a Study Abroad Course in South Africa that focuses on biodiversity conservation and eco-tourism, and a graduate course in Ecological Economics. He is also an honorary professor at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, and the Editor-in-Chief of the African Journal of Range and Forage Science.
