Professional Summary

David D. Briske is Regents Professor Emeritus in the Department of Ecology and Conservation Biology at Texas A&M University. Professor Briske’s teaching program emphasized ecological literacy to prepare the next generation of leaders to navigate the challenging environmental issues of our time. His research and scholarship focus on the ecological function, management strategies, and policy implications on global rangelands. He has served as Editor-in-Chief of ‘Rangeland Ecology & Management’, academic coordinator of the USDA ‘Conservation Effects Assessment Project’ (CEAP), and editor of the volumes ‘Conservation Benefits of Rangeland Practices’ (USDA 2011) and ‘Rangeland Systems: Processes, Management and Challenges’ (Springer 2017). His current research addresses climate adaptation planning in support of sustainable rangeland stewardship in the Great Plains, and re-envisioning the global benefit of rangelands through a more complete accounting of the diverse ecosystem services provisioned.
