Where World-Class Ecology Drives Global Conservation Impact

At Texas A&M’s Department of Ecology and Conservation Biology (ECCB), world-class scientists, students, and partners are advancing ecological discovery and applying it to solve the planet’s most urgent biodiversity and sustainability challenges.

From Texas prairies to Central African rainforests, our research reveals how ecosystems function, adapt, and provide essential services. We turn that science into action—protecting species, restoring landscapes, and strengthening communities in the face of global change.

Your partnership empowers us to:

  • Advance ecological science that unlocks solutions for climate resilience, ecosystem health, and sustainable resource use
  • Protect endangered species and restore ecosystems at critical tipping points
  • Cultivate the next generation of ecological and conservation leaders through immersive, globally engaged training
  • Deliver science and technology that inform global policy and practice
  • Forge global partnerships that ensure knowledge translates into measurable, lasting impact

Ways to Give

There are many ways to give through the Texas A&M Foundation that allow you to direct your gift for a specific purpose at Texas A&M University. You can support students, faculty, college programs or student activities with an endowed gift that will provide permanent support, or you can make a non-endowed gift to be used more immediately for a designated purpose.

Signature Giving Opportunities

Preserving 2.7 Million Specimens for Global Science

Impact: Unlock the scientific value of over 2.7 million specimens by digitizing and
modernizing collections so they can inform not only academic research, but also policy decisions, conservation planning, public health, and education worldwide. In the process, we train hundreds of students annually, preparing the next generation of biodiversity scientists and curators.

Opportunity: Support the modernization of the S.M. Tracy Herbarium & Biodiversity Research and Teaching Collections through cutting-edge facilities, digital access platforms, and training fellowships. Your partnership makes this irreplaceable resource more accessible to scientists, conservation practitioners, policymakers, and communities, ensuring that biodiversity data drives global solutions.

From Texas to the Tropics: Partnerships That Deliver

Impact: Bridge the gap between cutting-edge ecological research and real-world
conservation practice. The P3 Collaboratory connects leaders across 20+ countries, tackling urgent issues where biodiversity and human wellbeing intersect. With your support, we can turn science into solutions that safeguard ecosystems and strengthen communities.

Opportunity: Invest in the P3 Collaboratory (People, Planet, Partnerships) to fund global fellowships, NGO partnerships, and innovation labs that equip emerging leaders, amplify grassroots action, and scale breakthroughs from Texas prairies to tropical forests worldwide.

Strengthening the World’s Benchmark for Biodiversity Risk

Impact: Empower a new generation of scientists and decision-makers to deliver faster, more accurate assessments for species and ecosystems—ensuring that conservation investments worldwide are targeted where they matter most.

Opportunity: Support the Global Conservation Intelligence Hub, where Texas A&M
scientists harness ecological modeling, remote sensing, and Red List science to translate data into decisions. With your partnership, we can scale the world’s most authoritative biodiversity risk system—the IUCN Red List—into a global engine for conservation solutions and sustainable development.

Securing Conservation Gains for Generations

Impact: Provide long-term protection for 4,000+ hectares of intact ecosystems, safeguard chimpanzees and elephants, and engage 1,000+ local people annually in conservation action.

Opportunity: Establish a permanent endowment for Mbam & Djerem National Park, Cameroon, sustaining research stations, eco-guards, education, and partnerships.

Rewilding the Future in Cameroon

Impact: Restore 1,000+ hectares of degraded forest, reintroduce orphaned primates, and train 500+ youth as conservation leaders—creating a living model of ecological recovery.

Opportunity: Rewild the Mbalmayo Forest Reserve through applied ecological restoration, primate rehabilitation, and youth conservation training, anchored by a new global field station.

Recognition & Legacy Opportunities

Donor partnerships can be recognized through:

  • Named fellowships & professorships
  • Endowed programs & facilities
  • Co-branded education campaigns
  • Legacy gifts that ensure enduring impact for people and the planet
