Teaching Track in Ecology and Conservation Biology

The Teaching Track in Ecology and Conservation Biology is designed to train future secondary school teachers in the life sciences. Students who complete this track will receive both a Secondary Education Minor and a Major in Ecology and Conservation Biology. After successfully passing the teacher certification exam, graduates will be qualified to teach life science courses in Texas high schools and science courses in Texas middle schools. Our mission is to produce highly qualified secondary education teachers, contributing to the next generation of scientifically competent Texans.

  • Credit Hours: 120 total credit hours

Career options

The Teaching Track in Ecology and Conservation Biology is designed to train future secondary school teachers in the life sciences, preparing them to become life science teachers in Texas high schools and science teachers in Texas middle schools. Additionally, graduates will be well qualified for roles as public outreach personnel in areas related to ecology, conservation biology, and natural resource management at both public agencies and private companies.
