Graduate Studies

The department will offer a graduate program for M.S. and Ph.D. students that will prepare students for advanced careers in the private sector, agencies, academia, or other service.

These degree programs should provide the student relevant training and experience necessary to become thought leaders who will advance the fields of ecology, conservation biology, and the study of forest, savanna, and wetland ecosystems through fundamental, applied, and/or interdisciplinary research and education programs.

In addition to the graduate curriculum offered by the department, students are strongly encouraged to integrate courses and experiences from collaborating departments and programs. Some of those whom we have strong relationships and partnerships include:

  • Department of Rangeland, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management
  • Department of Biology (COS)
  • IDP of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
  • Department of Entomology
  • Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology
  • Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Sciences
  • Stephen F Austin State University (Forestry Program)
  • Texas A&M AgriLife Forestry Service
